Making Compliance & Sustainable Fuel Management Easier: What’s New in Gryn?

Writer: GrynGryn

At Gryn, we are constantly working to improve our platform, making it easier for you to track emissions, stay compliant, and take meaningful steps toward sustainability. Our latest release includes powerful new features that streamline compliance management and enhance sustainable fuel adoption.

Introducing the Compliance Dashboard

The first version of our Compliance Dashboard is now live! You can access it as a new tab within the Dashboard area, where you’ll find key insights into your compliance status. This dashboard helps you analyze different data types, methodologies, and accounting standards to ensure your operations align with regulations.

How Does It Work?

Currently, the Compliance Dashboard can be filtered by financial year, as regulatory reporting revolves around annual periods. Within the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) tile, three key metrics help assess your compliance:

  • All Shipments Have Emissions – Tracks how many of your shipments have reported emissions. If this is below 100%, it means some emissions still need to be calculated.

  • All Shipments with Methodology – Indicates how many shipments have detailed emission calculation methodologies. If below 100%, this means some emissions were reported without clear methodology details.

  • All Emissions Valid – Ensures that reported emissions are within a reasonable range. If this is not at 100%, some shipments might have incorrect data (e.g., wrong units like kg instead of t). Use the flagging filter to check and correct these discrepancies.

This new dashboard simplifies compliance tracking, ensuring that your data meets the required standards with minimal effort.

Transition from Offsetting to Insetting & Sustainable Fuels

For a long time, Gryn has offered an offsetting module to help businesses manage their carbon footprint. However, given that offsetting does not count as emission reduction under CSRD and faces increasing scrutiny, we’ve evolved our system into a full-fledged insetting module.

What is Insetting?

Insetting involves reducing emissions within your own supply chain rather than compensating for emissions externally. This is achieved by adopting sustainable fuels such as biofuels and renewable diesel, replacing traditional fossil fuels.

Together with our partner GoodShipping (Finco Energies), we are launching a test phase where you can request the purchase of sustainable marine fuels and biodiesel using the Book & Claim system.

How Does Book & Claim Work?

Book & Claim allows companies to support sustainable fuels even if they can’t physically use them. Instead of requiring the direct transportation of biofuels to specific locations, businesses purchase certificates proving that a set amount of sustainable fuel has been produced and consumed elsewhere. This enables carbon reduction contributions without logistical constraints, making sustainable fuel adoption more scalable.

Coming Soon: Logging Third-Party Certificates Soon, you’ll also be able to log third-party sustainability certificates directly into Gryn, giving you more flexibility in tracking and reporting your insetting efforts.
